Our History

Celebration Baptist Church started as a mission of Immanuel Baptist Church of Tallahassee in 1980. The new congregation grew quickly and a year later it purchased its current 12.44 acre site and promptly began construction on what is now our family activity building.

Throughout the 1980s the church continued to experience growth and in 1989 the Celebration family moved in to a new worship center.

In 2001 the church purchased 100 acres as a potential future home for the congregation. After much prayer the church family felt led to remain on their property in Killearn Estates. The 100 acres was sold to the City of Tallahassee and plans were made to expand and improve the current campus.

In August of 2014, the Celebration Family was very excited to open the doors to their new preschool building and the Broom Tree Cafe.

In August of 2018 Celebration purchased the property formerly owned by Woodland Hall academy.  This purchase will allow for the eventual construction of new parking and a new worship center to serve our growing community.

Core Competencies

A major part of Celebration's discipleship model is our Core Competencies. These are beliefs, traits, and behaviors that every believer should have. They are woven into our Sunday messages, our Conversation Groups (discussion groups that meet to take a deeper look at Sunday's message), and our Student and Children's ministries.

What A Christ Follower Believes

  1. About the Bible: (2 Timothy 3:16-17) I believe the Bible is God’s Word. It is true and authoritative and I am committed to living according to its principles and commands.
  2. About God: (1 Corinthians 8:6) I believe there is one God who exists in 3 persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. God is perfect in all things. He is the creator of all things. He has made humanity in his image and he desires a personal relationship with each one of us.
  3. About Humanity: (John 3:16) I believe all people are fallen in sin, but loved by God who has taken the initiative to save humanity from its sinfulness.
  4. About Christ: (Hebrews 1:1-4) I believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God who became man, lived a perfect life, died for sinners, rose from the dead and now reigns at the right hand of the Father.
  5. About the Holy Spirit: (John 16:7-15) I believe the Holy Spirit convicts humanity of sin, righteousness and judgement. He calls humanity to accept Christ and fills believers, affirming their adoption into the family of God.
  6. About Salvation: (Ephesians 2:1-10) Salvation is an act of God’s grace, not of our works. God offers redemption of anyone who accepts Jesus as Lord and Savior. They become new persons in Christ, have their sins forgiven by God, are set apart to live for God’s purposes and anticipate eternity in heaven with God.
  7. About the Church: (Ephesians 4:11-16) The church is a body of baptized believers who have been bought by the blood of Christ and are bound together by the Holy Spirit. The church is the body of Christ and exists to carry out His purposes on the earth.
  8. About Eternity: (John 14:1-4) I believe there is a heaven and a hell and that Jesus Christ is returning to judge the earth and to establish His eternal kingdom.
  9. About God’s Design for Marriage and Family: (Ephesians 5:22-6:4) I believe marriage and family are gifts from God and serve as a picture of Christ’s relationship with the church. Family is the first environment where I am able to demonstrate my love for God by the way I love others.
  10. About Government: (Romans 13:1-7) I believe government has been established by God and is subordinate to Him. God has established government to do good, restrain evil and encourage her citizens to likewise do good.

What A Christ Follower Becomes

  1. Identity: (John 1:12) I have worth and value because I am made in God’s image and am His child. As His child, I live my life to bring glory to God and to serve His purposes.
  2. Love: (1 John 4:7-21) I choose to sacrificially and unconditionally love and forgive others because I have personally experienced God’s love for me.
  3. Joy: (James 1:2-4) I have inner contentment and purpose in spite of my circumstances that only deepens as I mature in Christ.
  4. Peace: (Philippians 4:4-7) I enjoy peace with God as I become more confident in God’s grace and experience His presence in my life. I enjoy peace with others as engage in biblically healthy relationships with them. I seek to deal rightly with those who have wronged or offended me as I pursue peace with them.
  5. Patience: (Romans 15:5) I am patient with other people because God has been patient with me.
  6. Kindness: (Matthew 7:12) I choose to treat others as I would like to be treated.
  7. Goodness: (Galatians 6:9-10) I will seek to do good to others even at great cost to myself.
  8. Faithfulness: (Proverbs 20:6) I will be the person those around me can depend upon.
  9. Gentleness: (1 Peter 3:15–16) I am a person of conviction, yet am always mindful of the concerns of others and am under control even when in conflict or frustrated.
  10. Self-Control: (Ephesians 4:22-24) My thoughts, emotions and actions are brought under control through the power of the Spirit as I pursue a holy, God-honoring life.
