Covid-19 Updates

May 28, 2020

Hello Everyone!

Big news today! Celebration will be reopening its doors the weekend of June 21 just in time for Father’s Day! I can’t tell you how excited I am about this. We’ll begin communicating the details of what church will be like around June 7.

As we prepare to reopen, we have 2 priorities. One is safety. We will work hard to make sure we have the best possible practices in place to keep you and your family safe while you’re on campus. The other priority is worship. We want to give glory to God and grow in our affections for Him and for one another. I’m confident that we’ll be able to achieve both of these goals.

In the meantime, we have a few more weeks of online-only ministry ahead!
Here’s how to connect this weekend:Thanks for your faithfulness!
Each week you all have been so incredibly faithful in your giving. I’m honored that so many of you have chosen to trust God to provide during this incredible time. It’s made a huge difference in our ability to respond to the needs of our community. Thanks so much!
Many of you have switched to giving online and it’s helped anchor down the regularity of your giving. If you’d like to take this step, this video will show you how.

Don’t forget, we’re here to help!
If you’re in need with financial struggle or marriage and family issues, let us know. Just click “Need Help?” on the church app.

Finally, I miss and appreciate you all. I’m really looking forward to worshiping together face to face beginning Father’s day weekend! Until then, stay the course and if you need anything at all, please let your church family know!

Hello Everyone!

Happy Memorial Day weekend! The unofficial start to Summer is here! I know that many of you have plans to be on the water this weekend. Please be safe out there! Also! Don’t neglect worshipping together as a family. It’s easier to do now than ever.

Here’s how to connect this Memorial Day weekend:

FOCUS 2020 Extended Ministry Plan / Budget Vote
If you haven’t done so already, please open your church app and cast your ballot by the end of the business day on May 26. It will take you less than 30 seconds to do so! If you haven’t looked the budget over, there’s a copy on the app for your review. Also, thanks for sharing your questions with us. We heard from a number of you and you are such an encouragement!

2 Questions I’m hearing most often:
I am hearing from many of you right now via text or email and these two questions are always at the head of the list:

When is the church reopening?
I wish I had a firm answer for you! But I can tell you this: We’re well on our way in our reopening plans. We have a good grasp on best practices we’ll have in place. The campus will be ready to go.
I am hopeful that we may be able to get more specific about a date in the next couple of weeks. I really like the plan that is being developed and I think you will like it as well. Stay tuned!!!

How is the church doing financially through this shutdown?
Last week Gallup released a survey indicating that charitable giving reached an all-time low during this crisis. News like this only leads me to be more in awe at your responsiveness to God’s leadership in regard to your generosity. Thank you for trusting God and following through with your giving.

As we look at the numbers each week, it’s become clear that one of the reasons we’re succeeding financially is that more and more of you are giving with great consistency. The reason? Online giving. As more of you have switched to giving online, your giving is happening with great regularity. Your faithfulness has resulted in our church being poised and ready to minister. Thanks so much for your consistent faithfulness and trust!
If you’d like to take a step to really anchor down your commitment honor God through faithful generosity, online giving is the right tool. This video shows you how.

Food for families in our area:
You all have responded above and beyond the call by bringing food to the church so that we can share it with others. The response has been overwhelming!
Last week, we had a team of 7 volunteers deliver 11 food boxes and hygiene kits to our Congolese refugee families here in Tallahassee as well as 18 families in Gadsden County. In addition, 30 boxes of kids’ snacks were also distributed. Thanks for making this happen!

If you’d be interested in serving in our food distribution ministry, please contact Johanna at the church office. She’ll be happy to help you get engaged!

Don’t forget, we’re here to help!
If you’re in need with financial struggle or marriage and family issues, let us know. Just click “Need Help?” on the church app.

Finally, I miss and appreciate you all. I’m really looking forward to worshiping together face to face soon. Until then, stay the course and if you need anything at all, please let your church family know!

Hello Everyone!

Have you spent any time waiting lately? Maybe you’ve seen a major project at work put on hold because of the virus, or you had to postpone that trip you’d been planning for a long time. Lots of us are spending time right now waiting for something highly anticipated to actually happen.

Starting this Sunday, we’re launching a brand-new series entitled “Worth the Wait.” We’ll explore how God uses seasons of waiting in our lives.

Here’s how to connect this weekend:  Reopening
We are continuing to work on our reopening plan and when the day finally comes, you’ll find a campus that ready to offer a safe worship environment for our new reality. Everyone wants to know when we’ll start meeting again! I’d like to know too, but we won’t have any better insight about the date until our state begins to implement further relaxing of the quarantine restrictions. Stay tuned!

Ministry Plan and Business Meeting
I’m so disappointed we won’t be able to hold our annual business meeting this year. For those of you who have never been to one, they’re actually a lot of fun – great food, great fellowship and a great time to learn about where God is taking our church.
Unfortunately, this year we’ll have to approve our annual ministry plan by ballot. By now everyone should have received a copy of the 2020-2021 Ministry plan as well as an accompanying FAQ document. We’ll host a Q&A meeting via Zoom on Monday, May 18 at 7:30 pm. If you have questions and would like to be a part of the Q&A, feel free to request an invitation from Katrina McMillian. Please note: You won’t be able to join the Q&A without an invitation! If you’d rather ask your questions via email, you can email your questions to Katrina and she’ll forward them to the right person. Ballots will be made available on Tuesday, May 19 and must be submitted by Tuesday May 26. Results will be reported on Friday, May 29.

Food Drive
There is still an ongoing need from the Congolese community that we’ve been serving since last year’s season of compassion. Many of them are now out of work due to the virus and could really use more support. So once again, I’m asking you to consider going grocery shopping! Here’s a list of what you can buy to help this community:
  • Pasta
  • Macaroni and cheese
  • juice boxes & snacks for kids
  • white rice (not instant)
  • corn meal
  • any type of dry beans (not canned)
  • green slit peas
  • fruits
  • vegetables (plantains, tomatoes, sweet potatoes, pumpkins, squash, zucchinis)
  • cooking oil any type
  • shampoo & conditioner
  • tooth paste
  • hand soap
  • soap
  • wipes
  • diapers (all sizes needed, but the greatest need is in larger sizes)
  • detergent
Donations can be dropped off to the mobile Drop Zone in front of the Groups Hallway entrance.

Don’t forget, we’re here to help!
If you’re in need with financial struggle or marriage and family issues, let us know. Just click “Need Help?” on the church app.

Thanks for your faithfulness!
You all are doing a tremendous job supporting your church and it’s ministries during this unusual time. I can’t thank you enough for the way you’ve demonstrated your trust in God by giving so faithfully. We’re able to do ministry without hindrance because our church body has been so generous. If you’re giving, let me say thanks! If you haven’t yet begun to give, or if you haven’t started giving online, let me encourage you to do so. Online giving is a great tool! This video shows you how.

Finally, I miss and appreciate you all. I’m really looking forward to worshiping together face to face in the near future. Hopefully, we’ll be able to release information to you soon about how and when that will take place. Until then, keep going! I’m proud of you all!
