Covid-19 Updates

April 2, 2020

Good Afternoon Celebration!

No doubt we’re all living through one of the most interesting seasons of our life! I want to encourage you to use this time. I know many of you are cleaning out the garage or getting chores done around the house that you’ve been putting off for a while. That’s great, but don’t stop there. Leverage the extra time to grow in your walk with Christ.

Here are some ways you can take a step:

This weekend: Palm Sunday is this weekend! Plan now to worship on Facebook, Vimeo or YouTube. Many of you have a YouTube app on your TV sets, so that’s an easy way to follow along. Streaming begins at 9:45 am so that you’ll have plenty of time to get set up to watch before worship begins at 10:00. Also, we’re now broadcasting on Fox 49 at 10:30. That broadcast is currently one week behind the livestream. However, beginning Easter Sunday, the content on Fox will be in sync with our online streaming. Plan now to invite your friends to join in both online or on TV.

We want your whole family to have a great time learning the Bible together. For years our children and students have used a curriculum from D6. This material also has an adult version, meaning that everyone from preschool through adult can study the same material in an age appropriate format together as a family. Here’s how you can participate:
  • Download the D6 Family App and follow along each week at home with lessons and extras for family discipleship. Find the app here for Apple or here Android.
  • Open the App and select Devotional Study Guides. Then select the age group you’d like to view. It’s that simple. Once in the material, navigate to the correct date and you’re ready to go.

Here’s a link for this week’s video for our children.
Here’s a ling for this week’s video for our students.

Engage in group life: Most of our small groups are now using Zoom to conduct their classes. Join in and have fun with it. My T-group just finished our second week of video conferencing. It’s working really well. So go ahead and get engaged. You can find a complete group schedule here. If you’re interested in joining a group, just contact Jerri at jchesney@icelebration.org.

Download the Church App: Be sure to download the church app if you haven’t already. Simply go to your favorite app store and search for Celebration Baptist Church. Also, be sure to turn your notifications on. This will allow you to receive regular news and updates from our church as well as communicate your needs to us. If you have a need, please let us know. Just click the Need Help button on the app.

Right Now Media: Our church offers everyone a free subscription to Right Now Media, a streaming service similar to NetFlix. Right Now is loaded with content for all ages – programming for your kids, entertainment, Bible studies, marriage encounters, you name it. So instead of binge-watching Tiger King all day, check it out. You can find out more on the church app by simply clicking the Right Now media tile.

StandStill Sermon Series: Beginning April 19, we’ll begin a new series entitled StandStill. It’s a 21-day prayer emphasis that will have daily content connected to the sermon series. Can you think of a better time to deepen your prayer life? More details to come.

Giving: I can’t say thank you enough for your continued giving. I know that for many, it’ a tremendous act of trust to give with such faithfulness. For those of you who are giving right now, thank you and keep it up! If you’re new to giving and still have an income, consider giving regularly. If you’re in need because of all that’s going on, let us know. We want to help.

We’ll have so many new ways to minister to people as we move through this crisis so your giving is very important. Please take a moment and set up your online giving. Here’s a video on how that’s done.

Good Friday: We’ll be streaming our Good Friday service at 6:30 pm on April 10. We always receive communion together at this service and this year is no exception. We want you to turn it into a bit of a family project, so next week, we’re producing a video on how to make communion bread. It will be a lot of fun and a great way for you to involve everyone in your home in the process. If you’re unable to make communion bread, we’ll be happy to bring communion supplies to you. We’ll have more info about that next week.

Finally, I’m praying for you all daily and we all want to know of your prayer needs. Please let us know about what’s going on in your life through the app. It’s easy to share your prayer needs there. We also want to know if you need help during this difficult season. Just let us know. Again, the app is a great way to do that.

God bless you all and see you this weekend!

Good Afternoon Celebration!

I can’t say thank you enough for your response last Sunday! You all tuned in, you interacted, you were engaged. Fantastic! It was a great day to be a part of Celebration!

We’re already hard at work on Easter in this new reality. It’s going to be great! We’ll get you more details on that next week. After Easter, we’re launching a brand new series that’s being developed very much with these times in mind. More on that next week as well.

So what about this weekend! Here’s what you need to know to participate:

Join us live at 10:00 am to worship together in English. Our Spanish service will begin at 11:30. We learned a few lessons last week. We’ll actually begin the livestream several minutes before the start of worship so that you have an easier time finding the livestream. After the livestream, you’ll be able to watch on demand at any time.

You can find the livestream on Facebook or on Vimeo. We've doubled up in the event Facebook is overwhelmed as more churches go online.

Something new for this week! We’ve made arrangements for our service to be televised on Fox 49, Sunday mornings at 10:30am (channel 10 for Comcast subscribers)! For both March 29 and April 5, we’ll be showing the worship service from the week prior. Then beginning Easter Sunday, the broadcast will match what’s online.

We want you to not only worship, but also to grow in your faith during this unusual season. So plan on doing family Bible time as well.

For children, here’s a video from Pastor Tommy connected to this week’s study.
For students, here’s a video from Pastor Aaron connected to this week’s study.

Be sure to download the church app if you haven’t already. Simply go to your favorite app store and search for Celebration Baptist Church or click here. Also, be sure to turn your notifications on. This will allow you to receive regular news and updates from our church as well as communicate your needs to us. If you have a need, please let us know. Just click the Need Help button on the app. Please note: We’ve begun the process of converting our calendar to reflect all of our online content such as discipleship groups. Start checking your app frequently throughout the week to stay up to date.

So many of you have been giving so faithfully and I want to encourage you to keep it up. It’s such an important step in our faith journey. If you still have an income, consider giving regularly. If you’re in need because of all that’s going on, let us know. We want to help.
We’ll have so many new ways to minister to people as we move through this crisis so your giving is very important. Please take a moment and set up your online giving. Here’s a video on how that’s done.

Finally, it’s been so good to catch up with many of you this week! Thanks for being so gracious to our calling teams and sharing your prayer needs with them. It’s our goal to touch base with everyone who’s a part of the Celebration Family every three weeks or so. Our goal is to keep up with how you’re doing so we can serve. If you need anything, please let your church family know!

See you Sunday!

Good Afternoon Celebration!

First, I want to thank you all for the incredible response to our first online service last Sunday. As you know, we made the decision to cancel our on campus worship experience just the day before. Our notice was very short! You all responded beautifully. Hundreds watched online live and a few thousand have watched on Facebook over the last two days.

I know you have a lot of questions about the days to come. Let me try to answer them for you.

How will we worship this weekend?
This Sunday we’ll worship together online. Our English service will be at 10:00. Our Spanish service will be at 11:30. We anticipate worshipping online in this fashion the next few weeks, but the decision will be made on a week to week basis as our nation responds to this crisis.

While all of our on campus activities have been suspended for the time being, go ahead and plan now to “attend church” online. Make it a date for your family. Invite other families from work or from your community to watch online as well. We typically do what we plan to do, so plan to be "at church" on Sunday!

Thursday you’ll receive an email with links for the service, as well as links for children’s, student and adult Bible study programming. We want to equip your family to worship and grow in your walk with Christ.

How will we disciple?
While you'll have some bible study content provided for you and your family each week, we’re also encouraging you to join a Transformation Group. As you know, a Transformation Group is a small group of 3-4 people that can meet face to face or online. We’ve made some changes to the curriculum choices so that there will be something for you regardless of where you are in your walk with Christ. Look for more information about this on Thursday.

How will we minister to one another?
Put simply, if you have a need, let us know. Call the church or use the “Need Help” tile on our church app. We’re here for you and want to serve you and your family. if you haven't downloaded our church app, now's the time to do so! just go to your favorite app store and search for Celebration Baptist Church.

How will we minister to our community?
We’re working to form some new strategic partnerships that will help us meet the needs of those who are hurting by providing food and other essentials. Look for more information on Thursday.

Please pray for our country, our community and our church family. These are challenging days for all of us.

I’ll connect with you again on Thursday. Thanks for being a part of the Celebration Family!

Why are we changing course and suspending services on campus? Yesterday at the end of business I sent an email informing you that we’d have services this weekend. Then, just 30 minutes later, Leon County Schools announced their closure. As I stated in the email, if the state asked schools to close, we would follow suit. Our goal as a church is to be an asset to our community. We’ll be making a decision about weekend services on campus on a week to week basis through the crisis.

Again, we encourage you to remain steadfast in your giving. You can understand how important those resources are as our community navigates this crisis. Here’s how to give online. However, I know that for some of you, this pandemic may represent financial loss. If you are in need, I want to encourage you to reach out to your church and let us know what you are facing. I am convinced that if those who are able to give do so faithfully, we’ll have all we need to meet the needs of those who are struggling. We’ll do our best to serve our church family.

Stay steadfast in prayer during this season. Keep your eyes focused on serving others. Place your confidence in Christ. Rely on good information and not rumor. I strongly encourage you to monitor the CDC website for the latest on the crisis.

Watch your email very closely over the next week. Our staff has a number of ideas to implement so that we can maintain our community and body life as a church in different ways during this pandemic. I’m excited for us to learn some new ways to experience church!

See you online!

Pastor David
